Smoking is harmful. Everybody around us knows that. In fact, 7 out of 10 smokers admit that they want to quit smoking but they barely succeed. Trust me, quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health. Smoking is very harmful for your health and it affects all your body parts including your heart. Apparently, smoking is the 3rd leading cause of death and it should be the strongest reason for you to take a step towards quitting it.

Is Vaping a Solution?

Now, that is a tricky question. Very tricky indeed. I cannot answer this question in YES or NO. I would rather say that vaping may or may not be a solution.

Let’s get this straight. Both smoking and vaping includes inhalation of smoke – which is actually the elephant in the room. Smoke does more damage to your lungs rather than the nicotine or tobacco. But, vaping is known to be a little less dangerous than smoking. So yes, if you choose vaping over smoking, it would be a little less harmful for you but it’s not a solution.

Therefore, my recommendation is, if you can’t get yourself to quit smoking after all your efforts, you should rather start vaping.

But, before you start, here are 5 things you should know about vaping.

1. Vaping is Better than Smoking

Electronic vaporizers create the water vapor by heating up the nicotine and other flavorings you are using. While a tobacco cigarette contains around 7,000 chemicals, the chemical count in e-cigarettes is much lower than that. So, with vaping, you are exposed to fewer toxic chemicals than the conventional cigarettes.

2. E-Cigarettes are Equally Addictive

If you are in denial that e-cigarettes are not addictive then you need to get over it right now. Electronic cigarettes are as addictive as the regular tobacco cigarettes. Both of them contain nicotine, which can be equally addictive as cocaine and heroin. What’s worse? If you choose e-liquids with higher amounts of nicotine, it could do more harm than good. So, watch yourself.

3. Electronic Cigarettes are Not the Perfect Solution

Although e cigarettes are presented to you as an aid for quitting smoking but it’s not the perfect solution. It’s not even a solution. The solution is – well, quitting it. They haven’t even received the approval from food and drug administration as smoking cessation devices. According to a recent study, people who tried vaping for quitting smoking ended up smoking both tobacco cigarettes and e-cigarettes.

4. Vaping Is Not Completely Safe For Your Health

Nicotine is the primary agent in both electronic cigarettes and the conventional cigarettes and apparently both cigarettes produce smoke. So, vaping, in no way, is safe for your health. In addition, there are number of e-juices available with different amounts of nicotine and chemical composition. Therefore, in some instances, e-cigarette can be potentially more harmful for your body. It can raise your blood pressure and give you an adrenaline rush which may increase your heart rate. Therefore, smoking e-cigarette is definitely not good for your body, especially the lungs and the heart.

5. Young Generation is More Addicted to E Cigarettes

According to a study, the new generation is more hooked up on electronic cigarettes rather than the conventional ones. They are often exposed to these in clubs and bars which have become a routine in the new modern culture. In 2018, over 3.8 million kids have been exposed to electronic cigarettes. Last year, there was 78% rise in the use of electronic cigarettes among high school students which clearly speaks for itself.

These facts are even more worrying because vaping is getting those people to smoke  who wouldn’t smoke otherwise.

Factors to consider while using e-cigarettes to quit smoking

If you have made up your mind to opt for vaping to quit smoking, here are some things you should bear in mind:

  • You’re not replacing smoking with vaping, you are quitting it. So, use vaping substances accordingly.
  • Choose the e-liquids with least amount of chemical toxins and lower nicotine count.
  • Decrease the frequency of vaping slowly so that you can quit one day.

Having said that, you must give your best shot to quit smoking. Different things work for different people. So, if this is your shot, give it a try. But try with an intent to quit. Do not give rise to another addiction.
